Allahabad: Ashokan Pillar

The Polished sandstone pillar was build by Emperor Ashoka. It stands majestically inside the fort measuring 10.6 m in height and dates back to 232 BC. One may marvel at the edicts along with the inscription that heralds the victories of Samudragupta, the great ruler of the Gupta period. There is also a persian inscription of Mughal Emperor Jahangir, the contemporary Badshah.
