Chhattisgarh: BJP delegation meets SEC raising 4 demands

RAIPUR: BJP state president Vikram Usendi led delegation called on Chhattisgarh State Election Commissioner on Wednesday and handed over a memorandum regarding the delimitation of wards, holding election through EVM instead of ballot papers and other demands.
The delegation had BJP Urban Body election incharge Amar Agrawal, Leader of Opposition Dharamlal Kaushik, former minister Brijmohan Agrawal and Raipur MP Sunil Soni.
Talking to media, Usendi said four key points have been raised. The first is to extend the date for claims and objections in electoral roll limit of September 16 and also hold physical verification of electoral roll.
He said talks are to hold election through ballot papers but when already upgraded version of EVMs is available, then why not EVM.
The third issue is the delimitation of wards mentioning Municipal Act section 10 based on population and geographical status, but it is being found that it is being violated. The demand was raised to fully implement the rule.
BJP state president hoped that State Election Commission would consider our demands sympathetically otherwise; the party will be forced to seek legal intervention.
State Election Commissioner Thakur Ram Singh said the BJP delegation had raised the demands based on election process and key is extending dates, delimitation and others. All the points will be taken for consideration.
