As per the notification issued, the election will be held for chairman (One post), vice president (Ten posts), general secretary (One post), joint secretary (Six posts), treasurer (One post), and executive members (12 posts). The private hotel will be the election office.
Bashir Ahmed Khan further in statement stated that all the state based Sports Associations and district bodies have urged Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel to accept the post of chairman of COA. The COA office bearers and District Olympic Association president and secretaries have already given consent in writing.
Earlier, Indian Olympic Association (IOA) president Narinder Dhruv Batra in February had through a letter directed COA to start the election process of the Executive Board citing earlier letters sent in this regard. The tenure of Executive Board of COA had expired on December 29, 2019. The last date for holding the election was fixed on March 20. But due to nation-wide lockdown it could not happen.
Similarly, COA had amended the tenure of chairman and other provisions violating IOA norms. Batra had through a letter on January 3, 2020 directed COA to re-amend the constitution of COA with the tenure back to its original term of 4 years by or before February 15, 2020.
