A National seminar on Gandhi and Modern India is being organized on the sesquicentenary of Mahatma Gandhi and Kasturba Gandhi. The seminar will be held at Pt. Ravishankar University auditorium from 11-13th September. The seminar is jointly being organized Pt. Ravishankar University, Raipur Chhattisgarh and by Azim Premji Foundation.
The seminar will be inaugurated by Bhupesh Baghel, Chief Minister, Chhattisgarh at 11 Am on 11th September. He will also inaugurate a 3 days long exhibition on the life of Gandhi in Pictures. He will also address the audience.
A press conference was organized today to brief about the seminar by the organizing committee. “To propagate the ideas of Mahatma Gandhi among the youths. The relevance of Gandhi’s ideas of Truth, Non-Violence and Swaraj will be the focus of the deliberations in these three days seminar.” Says Sunil Kumar Sah, State Head of Azim Premji Foundation while briefing about the purpose and objective of the seminar.
Professor Apoorvanand will be the key note speaker on the inaugural session whereas freedom fighter Smt. Leelatai Chitle and Sarvidai leader Amarnath bhai will be the guest of honours. Sunil Kumar Sah, State head, Azim Premji Foundation will brief about the purpose and objective of the seminar and the welcome address will be by Professor Keshari Lal Verma, Vice Chancellor, Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University.
Sharad Behar, former Chief Secretary, Madhya Pradesh will preside over the session and Prof Girish kant Pandey, Registrar will give the vote of thanks.
The topics of the sessions are State Citizen Relationship, Centralized model of governance, Pluralism and Social harmony in Indian context, Cooperative and Collaborative social order, Non-violent and sustainable Gandhian economic model, Gram Swaraj, Environment and Gandhian development model, Educational philosophy of Gandhi and Naitalim , Gandhi on India’s linguistic diversity and Gandhi in Chhattisgarh.
And the speakers will be Prof. Apoorvanand, RK Singh, Lalit Surjan, Anil Chaube ( audio-visual presentation), Nand Kishore Acharya, Prof. Sujit Sinha, Sharad Behar, Aflatoon, Urmilesh, Mahendra Mishra, Alok Bajpei, Pradeep Sharma, Prof. Hanumant Yadav, Dr. Ramendranath Mishra and Dr. Vikram Singhal.

Purusottam Singh Thakur from Azim Premji Foundation also brief about the yearlong programs by the foundation in the state, “To commemorate the sesquicentenary of Ba (Kasturba) and Bapu (Mahatma Gandhi), Azim Premji Foundation has been planned a yearlong program in the districts where we are working. We are going to organize Seminars, puppet shows, plays, exhibitions on Gandhi. We are also organizing such more programs on Gandhi in collaboration with different educational and cultural Institutions in the state.”
